Description:
When the aircraft was restored, the original 165 Hp Curtiss Challenger engine could not be salvaged. The 220 Hp Continental engine was installed at that time.

This aircraft was build and first registered in June 1929. It was originally operated by the Curtiss Flying Service and appears to have been up on floats. In late 1929, the aircraft was sold, then reposessed in September 1930, and resumed operation with the Curtiss Flying Service. In January 1932, it was sold again and moved to California and then to Portland, Oregon. During the time this owner had the airplane, it was operated by Wallace Flying Service in Wallace, Idaho. It was sold twice in 1945, then transfered to the Kalispell, Montana VFW Post. It was sold again in 1947 and ownership did not change again until 1974 when the current owner and his father obtained the aircraft and restored it after years of being abandoned. The estimated airframe time was developed as a result of the air operated flight time meter reading. There are no logbooks prior to the restoration.
